I'm trying to load Hardwar on my laptop, and was successful with everything except the DirectX. Can someone point me to a good place to DL this file?

I did. I think the problem is deeper than DirectX, I think I have a video driver problem. Thanx anyway, but I might get a friend to help.

What version of Windows? (XP, Vista, 7?) What graphics card is it running?
A little background information goes a far way.

It should be in C:\Program Files\Hardwar\
Just do a search looking for files and folders called hardwar; you should at least find the location of the folder. Most important is to find what graphic card you have there and get the most up to date drivers to it...

First make sure you are running a patched game. I recommend the UIM 6 patch available directly through this link: zedo.hardwar.org.uk/HardwarUIM06.exeI recommend using DirectX instead of your video card, at least to start. Next, run the setup program As Administrator and in Windows98 compatibility mode. These are both set by right clicking the setup.exe file. Windows 7 is less hassle than Vista, but the above generally works on both. The problem is that Windows 7 doesn't use DirectX as recognized in previous Windows versions. Using Windows98 compatibility usually fixes that. You do *not* want to try to install older versions of DirectX on Windows7. Windows7 will resist and you'll end up with a mess. Once DirectX is either working or totally fails, try your video card. Try every setting in the game. The patched game supports the major cards. The three big things I want to emphasize are to: 1) Patch the game 2) Run setup as Administrator 3) Run in Windows98 Compatibility Mode
