I cannot support this game anymore, read the end of the thread for an explanation.
They finally apoligised to me and admitted they were only having a laugh.

I recently (ish) reinstalled it to try the foundation update, and got bored to death all over again with it. I don't think I can bring myself to do it a third time now this update has arrived. Hats off to HG for seeing it through though.

IMO the developers/publisher followed fan pressure to release so early, or released as early access there would have been much less fan outrage. I am honestly impressed that they stuck with it, most devs/publishers would have thrown the game away at that point and moved on, usually under a different name at that. It is much better now, but it still only had about 30-40 hours of play-ability for patient players. Haven't check visions yet might, since I have an 3TB drive just for games and rarely uninstall them unless they are ostensibly bad.

They've told us there's going to be mining bots and factory modules for bases now as well and a bulletin board for multiplayer missions and support for 32 players in the same place at a time.

Yep, I haven't tried it, kinda addicted to X4 atm, have you tried it? And how do they handle? Like Subnautica or like Mechwarrior?

They handle like mechwarrior, they have thrusters to make them jump and upgrades such as interchangeable weapons and other equipment, you can use the mining laser to harvest trees and mineral outcrops such as copper deposits that show up as visible objects. The annoying overheat shutdown from mechwarrior doesn't happen though. They are powerful enough to take down a sentinel without incurring any damage. As for the x series, haven't played it since I installed x3 albion prelude, lost interest in it when I realised you couldn't progress in it without referring back to the spoiler board all the time.I bought x rebirth but the disk is still sitting on my desk gathering dust.

The series isn't really story heavy, it's mostly do a few missions to teach you to play then build up a merchant empire, then go, conquer the universe.
X Rebirth has the most story out of all of the X series, the down side is that you are (imo) Han Solo, you become an admiral have a massive fleet of ships to choose from, but there you are sitting in the Millennial Falcon instead of a Frigate, Destroyer, or Battleship getting blown to smithereens if you get too careless.

If only you could control your fleet of ships and build bases in elite dangerous, it would be the ultimate game, wouldn't be too difficult to implement either if they used the original code for the ai and the buildings.
