Did you ever play version U1.0 and start shooting the laser as you passed through a crater tunnel? If so, you'll notice that environment audio effects were applied in U1.0, but then subsequently removed in U2.04. Does anyone know why that was?
There must have been some EAX 1.0 hooks implemented in U1.0 as these were activated on my Creative Sound Blaster Live! I know there was a sound effect issue where the engine-noise would be constant even if you stopped your moth completely, but that doesn't seem to be directly related to the removal of environmental audio effects? They were really good and I miss them in later U2 and U3 versions.

I hadn't paid any attention to it, is the environment effects check box checked on the hardman launcher? To ask the obvious.

Yes, the 3D sound checkbox is enabled for all of the versions I tested, as I never really change anything in the 'Audio' tab. It seems like the EAX effects implemented in certain locations (echo and reverb enabled in tunnels) was removed after U1.0.
