Happy 20th Anniversary today, Hardwar! UK Release: 1998-09-11
The date was Saturday the 12th of September. I remember going to Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield, early morning before store opening times to find ... no copies of Hardwar in either Electronics Boutique or GAME!? Bear in mind, these are the two biggest game retailers and the only two shops you go to in order to buy games. The staff at both stores told me they hadn't yet received the game. Going home, clouded my disappointment, not even considering WHSmith (they never have anything, as they only ever sell 4 or 5 PC games at a time as they have a very, very small PC games shelf). Calling WHSMith once I got home (I didn't own a mobile phone back then!) on the slight off-chance that they might have it and to my shock, they told me they are stocking it! Racing back to the shopping centre the next day to find it there, waiting on the shelf. Only 2 copies. Strangely, Electronics Boutique and GAME still didn't have the game in stores thay Sunday either. I don't remember when they finally got it (maybe a reason it didn't sell well?), but I didn't care, I'd got it.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to commemorate the anniversary too much as I'm currently in Japan, but I will have a celebratory play-through tonight on the Linux laptop. I also found my original F2.0 completed savegame file. Check out the last modified date:

This is the one and only run-through of the single-player game I have done and it took me from September 1998 to June 1999 to finish it. I guess it was all those quick Narcotics runs between General Industrial and The Waterfront in Riverside to rack up the profit.
Stay greedy, Titan.

Fired an email off to Ian Martin nearly 3 weeks ago. Still nothing I'm afraid chaps.
It's been almost 2 years since I last personally heard from him.
Hope you are all well.
Misplaced optimism does not come without its irony! However I remain grateful for Ian's work over the years.

Unfortunate. I wish I had the skillset to pursue this myself. The nostalgia is physically painful

It's always good to find new talent on the board. I can't believe you've managed to port hardwar onto android, that's a big achievement. Hope to hear from you again. Techno
