Hi everyone, my name is obviously Lee, and I'm new to the forum.
God knows why, should've been a part of all this years ago really.
Massive Hardwar fan, had the game ever since I played the demo that came with a magazine (that also contained a review).
I had just purchased my first computer at the age of 15 (I'd had many other consoles and amstrads, amigas etc and we even had an old IBM PS1 in the house, but this one was 'my' PC ;D)
It was an AMD K6-2 300, with 32mb of sdram and a 4mb ati agp card. I also had a joystick with throttle control which was perfect for the demo.
Fell in love with it, bought the game and the rest is history.
A few years later, my interest was piqued and I played the game again after discovering Captain Zedo's community page and patching it up etc.
I don't know if you remember me Zedo but I had a brief email chat with you about trade routes etc and remember you to have been very friendly and helpful as we laughed about the joy of still discovering new things in this game.
Anyway, I remember wanting to work for Gremlin as I live in Sheffield and was about to start a computer course at college with the hope of getting into the gaming market. You obviously know what happened to Gremlin and The Software Refinery so I won't bother you with that, but at some point I started writing an engine with the intent of creating a better version of Hardwar.
Fast forward to now and I'm actually a metalwork engineer instead of a games developer and my engine remained a work in progress back in the day. I see there's a good thread here already to do with work on recreating the game though, I'll give that a good read and I'll be happy to help any way I can.
Oh and back to the reason I'm here, I recently joined accursed farms forum and there's a topic for obscure and forgotten/neglected/underplayed games, so my very first post there was a plug for Hardwar and a link to Zedo's, which I was extremely happy to discover still alive and kicking.
So I came here
Give yourselves all a pat on the back for keeping this game alive. I always plug it whenever the chance arises.
And if you can, give airdrawndagger by dj Sasha a listen as an alternative soundtrack to the game. I found it to work a treat. (but each to their own)
So yeah, hi all!
Phew.
