It pains me to see that during the 2 years that I wasn't posting on the forums people have flamed and abandoned most, if not every hardwar remake project. What on earth happened?
Perhaps it would help if Zedo could put up a board for each modification, where people can see how they can help out and see the latest development, that would help involvement. I mean, I dont see how a Hardwar remake can get to 70% and then just die because of a debate, I know certain programmers were working their butts off, thank you for being so loyal! But I think we're not really working smartly, awareness should be raised, this is especially done by concept artists, which also improves the morale of fans and the workers, which in turn produce more contributors.
Here's an example of concept art at work:

I also figure opensource is the way to go, let everyone have the code and learn from it, and let everyone have client and server, projects like hardwater just left me dry, where I would want to see how it plays, but I didn't have the server to run myself and the main server couldn't always be up, which just disappointed where it could've converted a fan into a developer.
Maybe I'm naiive, but why let so much work just go to waste, those who have contact with the old developers, perhaps you could get them to post their ideas on restarting the remake churning machine which should be the Hardwar community!
I know there were many different versions with different stories, which makes sense, because the Hardwar I want doesn't really have what the hardwar of the others has.
I've been experimenting with a few game engines and I'm currently trying out the neoaxis opensource engine. Pretty impressive! Unfortunately my old efforts came short where I was trying to use the torque game engine, since none of the useful stuff was free and I would need to spend money on something I would give away for free. Neoaxis is just as good, and to top it off: free!

I am still a student, for 2 more months, then I'll start coding and try to get my project off the ground, some of my ideas:
1.travelling on foot and using tunnels between buildings in that way.
2.integrated interiors and exteriors of buildings
3.moths will lose parts such as wings as damage is done, perhaps this would influence steering.
4.still on titan, remake of all original craters with way more detail.
5.extra craters to be added as development goes.
6.mmo support
7.visible upgrades on moths, like wings, nosecones, lights, weapons, body kits.
8.custom individual skins viewable by other players online
9.city would be alot more busy and bustling with nooks and crannies to hide in or race through.
10. live use of the ship's onboard computer by using the mouse pointer mid-flight while pressing alt.
would be best to just get the flight engine running as a start, then slowly add multiplayer, then buildings, then economy, then upgrades, then damage, and all the fancy stuff.
However I would much rather work on a remake that is 70 percent complete and then perhaps just mod it to suite my concepts than starting a whole new remake.
