What type of machine are you using to pay Hardwar on? Do you use an old skool system, a modern rig or a laptop even? At home in the UK, I have a treasured old skool system, which I love to play Hardwar on. It gives me those great memories of a struggling system to play classic games! And Yes, I was playing the Hardwar Demo in '97, in Software mode (400x300), before I purchased my two Voodoo2s (1st in Nov '97, 2nd in Mar '98) just in time before Hardwar was released. DELL DIMENSION XPS M200s CPU: Intel Pentium MMX @ 200MHz RAM: 64Mb SD-RAM HDD: 4.3Gb Maxtor IDE GPU: Matrox Millenium 4Mb 3DA: Creative 3D Blaster Voodoo2 12Mb SLI APU: SoundBlaster 16 + AWE32 Daughterboard OS: Windows 95 OSR 2 Modern Rig: CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ Black Edition @ 2.6Ghz RAM: 4Gb Corsair XMS2 TwinX PC2-6400 DDR2 HDD: Maxtor 80Gb SATA/150 GPU1: XFX nVIDIA 9800GT XXX Alpha Dog GPU2: 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI 64Mb APU: Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Now, I'm currently in Poland, and all I have to play Hardwar on is my: ASUS EEE 901 20G White CPU: Intel Atom N270 @1.6Ghz RAM: Kingston 2Gb 667Mhz DDR2 HDD: 4Gb SSD + 16Gb SSD GPU: Intel GMA 950 256Mb APU: Realtek HD Audio OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit Post your system and its specs.

My current computer is an HP Firebird 802. It doesn't really live up to all the marketing hype but the price dropped substantially about the time I was getting ready to order parts to build a new computer. Unfortunately, HP has since discontinued it and aren't providing any support for GPU and/or BIOS upgrades. I'd have to do some archeology in my old computer parts collection to reconstruct my old school homebuilt I first played Hardwar on. It would be similar to your old school rig but with videocards using Rendition V1000 and V2200 GPU's and several different soundcards.

I also have a few Rendition cards kicking around too. A Creative 3D Blaster PCI (Rendition V1000) and a Diamond Stealth II S220 (Rendition V2100). I also realised that Hardwar was made to support most 3D APIs at the time such as Glide, PowerVR and D3D, but did not offer support for RRedline (Renditions proprietary 3D API). However, this is probably due to the weakness of the Rendition chipset-based cards, as they were no match for the 3Dfx Voodoo chipsets at that time.

I'm playing on what was once a magnificent and cutting edge rig, but is beginning to slip through the cracks. ;D Modern Rig: CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz RAM: (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 HDD: Old as $&!#, 500GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 OS: Windows 7 Home 64-Bit You should see the FPS I get on Mechwarrior 3! I used to run Hardwar on an old '98 machine, but I haven't dusted that particular machine off in years....
