Hi flyers. I'm looking to upgrade my video card so I can play a decent game of Crysis 2. But.....I'm still running Direct X version 9 on the card I have now. I'm sure the new card is going to want to upgrade to Direct X 10. Will the Hardwar game still run okay with Direct X 10? Hammer By the way...I'm currently using a NVidia Gforce 8800 GS 384MB card which is strugling mightily to keep up with Crysis 2. I'm upgrading to a Gigabyte GTX 460 SOC 1gig card. It's certainly not top end, but very good for the money I have to spend, and a couple of generations over the 8800 GS at only 384MB. Now if it's only backwards compatible to Hardwar.

DX10 includes DX9 and most of the previous versions. So, have no fear. I've played Hardwar on Vista, DX10 and with GTX260. But... if you ask me, you better take GTX560.

What Forevener said I just got myself the GTX560 Ti past week (my old video-card, 9600GT gave some pretty fireworks in my case... :/) and it works like a charm. I think it is a good buy, better cards are still in the 300-600 Euro range. "MSI GeForce GTX 560, 1GB, Twin FrozrII/OC" is said to be most silent and good. I myself have the Gigbyte OC version, which also works good, but I guess the MSI has better cooler.

I'm just... speechless... 600 euros for a graphic card? Generically, here in the end of the world, technology always has been expensive for obvious reasons but now I feel myself lucky... For 600 euros I can buy a respectable pc by myself... for 700-800 a gaming rig more than respectable... It makes me think about perspectives...

As much as I would like to get a top-end graphics card, my money is limited as I just bought that new glider. So....I limited myself to spending no more than $200 US dollars on a card. Even the lower end GTX 460 card is generations ahead of the 8800 GS card I have now. So it will be a noticable improvement. It's a 1 gig card, also faster, and the Gigabyte is a bit overclocked also. The reviews said it does a respectible job of running Crysis 2 and is also pretty quiet. I am going to have to double check my power supply though. It takes a lot of power to run the cards today. Nice new card! Well flyers, I got my new graphics card installed and running. They just keep getting better. And for the money, I sure can't complain. I bought a Gigabyte NVidia GTX 460 ROC 1 gig card. This replaced my NVidia 8800GS 325mb card. About three generations up and a lot more memory. My old card would run Crysis 2 but at the lowest game settings. This new card runs the game at Ultra High, at 1920 X 1200 resolution with no problem at all. I'm impressed. I expected a big improvement but didn't really think it would run the game on the highest settings. Of coarse, maybe the game makers are learning that if you make a game that only the highest power, newest cards can run, then you won't sell very many games. I'm still running DX 9 too. It didn't demand that I install DX 10 to run. Any reason to go ahead and upgrade to DX10?

Which OS do you have? If it's Vista or Seven - you already on DX10.

I'm running XP Pro. I see that DX9c is the official Microsoft version for XP Pro, DX 10 was made for Vista? I dowloaded the latest upgrage for DX9-C and I'll leave it at that. I did get my new 500 watt power supply put in last night. So now I'm completely upgraded except for the possibillity of more RAM. I've got 3 GIG of ram and that seems to be just fine. Gee, I guess you never stop spending money if you want. Enough upgrades for now. My son is tickled though, he gets my old 325 MB 8800GS graphics card and my old 420 watt power supply. Both upgrades for his old computer. Hammer

Well, you need to install Vista or Seven to release a potential of the card.
