While playing around on MY Opera I noticed my page had been visited by someone so I checked their blog out and discovered it wasn't english so I decided to see which language it was, Malaysian, opened the first translation site I ran across (Google's) while on it I seen a link that said, Website TranslatorAnd figured it maybe interesting for anyone hosting a website, since it adds a Language toolbar for people to select which language they want the site displayed in. [Sarcasm] With all of google's accuracy included!! [/Sarcasm]

Well at least you can "recommend" better translations. ;D
Though at the same time that can be part of the problem.

A couple of years ago... I got involved in the translation of a free mmorpg, not a bad idea from the publisher to use the players as main translators, and reward them with premium stuff and awesome items. At first the idea went along very well organized, with tested managers and supervisors who were there to approve the delivered translations from the general public. The publisher developed a set of different tools, ones for the general user and others for the managers. Each user got paid 1 point for every word translated counted in the target language... I must say the paid in form of premium stuff was very tempting... After a time the managers started to find lots and lots of google translations attempts, and some went through because they were accurate, we as managers were unable to see who sent what, only the translation with an order number/code. At that time we started asking the publisher to give us a tool to ban users where it was evident the use of google... the tool comes to late, by the time we had half the team invaded with people who didn't speak anything of the language... you can imagine the result... the game got translated from chinese to english using google and from english to spanish/french/italian/romanian/german and dont know how many others in same way... The result, an unplayable game in any language not being english... Half of my time spent htere I was not for the premium, but for the rest of latinos playing, a lot of friends... what a waste... /end of rant

I would laugh but that is too sad. X( At least anyone with a decent mastery of their own language can make google translation readable and coherent. [Rant]Warning more non-native English speakers have a better mastery of English than American High-School students in my own opinion.[/Rant]

[Rant]Warning more non-native English speakers have a better mastery of English than American High-School students in my own opinion.[/Rant] I will guarantee you that most people speaking English as a second language do better than an American high school student. I've dealt with both frequently. American's in general worry more about making the language conform to them as opposed to conforming to English grammar and form.
