After moving to Germany, things have been very tight financially. But thanks to my dad, who bought himself yet another new computer, I now have a pretty new computer. And even though its been a few years since I have had a dedicated linux box, I am back in buisness.
I decided to give installing Hardwar with wine another go. It installed with no problems at all. However, playing it had many an error. Mainly display errors. So I installed uim 6. And it worked. Frame rates were on par with playing online, but it worked. I am sure some tweaking will cure the frame rate.
I was surprised that it worked so easily. Every other attempt I tried in the past was an utter failure. Either way, I am a happy Pilot once again!

Good work! The big difference is in the new WINEs out there. Linux has always worked with PC video as well as Windows, but Windows over complicates things. The new WINEs have these video problems solved. You may find many other of your Windows games work on Linux.
I've configured FreeSpace and a variety of LucasArts' games. Most of them just install and configure like they did in Windows.
