Well, I figured I needed a new side project to my main one to keep the inspiration coming, so I figured, why not try and recreate Hardwar? I know I'm not the only one, and I can see that the other remakes look really good so far. And another thing. I'm not... experienced... enough to make a 3D remake. So I thought... 2D Hardwar? Would it work? Well, if you've heard about that 2D "demake" of Team Fortress 2, this is a similar thing. It takes the 2.5D world of Hardwar, and aims to convert it to a 2D top down world. The game mechanics are going to be all diferent- combats going to be a whole new story. But the classic world of Titan, as well as many of the features of Hardwar will still be in Hardwar 2D. Meh. I'm not even sure if I can create such a game. My skills are not exactly skillful. There are some things in this game that creating from scratch is not going to be easy. I'm interested in others thoughts... I've created a Tech Demo... well, I kind of whipped it up in about an hour to get a basic system going... really, I wanted to know what you guys thought about it. If anyone's used Construct before, you will know how tricky it is to get 3D graphics in it. I was also wondering... is there any way to get the textures for Hardwar? I was hoping to use them in the buildings, right now they just use a generic metal that I found laying about. Tech Demo 0.01: www.mediafire.com/?h9o6sobzbzxt8psRequired: Hardwar font. The game's font may mess up other wise.

I haven't tried the demo yet but there are two differnt Hardwar fonts that have been made, which one is correct?

The one on the Downloads page on Zedo's community website, called Hardfont. I wasn't aware there was another, this one seemed to mess up Construct a little. I'm going to update the demo soonish because I kind of rushed this one, and the quality is sadly lacking.

Yeah, it's definitely an interesting take on hardwar. But I would use hardwar texture and 3d model files. It would save a ton of time for you.

Yea, I have no doubt. Although... is it possible to extract the resources from the Hardwar demo?

Yes, it should be quite possible since you UIM6 makes it the full version minus videos and music. There is a program ?on? Zedo's main site that has was made to do it, it may even be listed on this board somewhere.

It is possible to extract almost all resources from the demo. Actually I partially use them for my 3D remake Duncan made this extraction script which produces the textures and the models, however, it is in Blender3D format, the program I use. It can extract the models to several different types of file-formats though. PS. Nice idea, this 2D! Ill try the demo..

Demo looks fun, agree with pilot here expecting a giant deathshead to enter the screen at any moment, shooting balls in all directions, slowly sweeping the screen from left to right..

As far as I know,There is being a remake of the Hardwar by it's own creators...And the project is advancing quite rapidly!

I know of some remake-projects, but most seem relatively dead or in coma.. Would be very nice if the official producers picked that up! (And sure saves me a lot of time making another remake.. )

Good to hear that people are interested! I'm going to have to put this project on hold for a little while, I maaaaay have gotten a little carried away. For starters, I already have two projects that I have been working on day and night and another right now would be suicide. Also, I'm not entirely sure how to create the AI. It would be pretty tricky... doable, but out of my reach. And I'm not sure how to implement hangers. I don't have much knowledge of arrays, so creating entire layouts for each hanger wouldn't work well.
When I've finished Apocalyptic and Epic Universe I'll see if I can work some more on this.

Disclaimer: As far as I know Andrew, and www.hardwar.org are not in any way, shape or form affiliated with the original creators. But they are always looking for more people with any programming skill.

Hehe, that's exactly why I try to be not too enthousiast about my remake In the end it is yourself that must run and probably finish it, and things simply change over time.. Just to prevent some broken hearts and promises! Anyway I do it on my own pace, the best I can and whenever I have the feeling to I work on it. It must stay fun. Just an advice/idea from my side But once you're past the programming part and more into the visual part, things will probably get enough attention of others to pick up some work of you!
