Hi all,
Great to see this forum is still here. I've been getting back into hardwar recently and have discovered the console and manufacturing for the first time. The game has become so much more complex (read better) now. I love it even more!
There's a few things I could do with some help with...
1. I can't rename my hangar. It is called "Steve C's hangar". I type HANGAR name, sclose while in the hangar (to change its name to 'sclose'). The console confirms the change but the name does not change in the game.
2. My hangar with an ore processor installed will not buy ore. I've set the purchasing price quite high (240), deposited 10000 credits, set sales to 'on'. Am I missing something?
3. Not many flyers are buying goods from my ore processer. In the past hour of gameplay I've only sold one sheet metal (sell price 380). Is this normal?
I'm running UIM06
Thanks in advance. Steve

the first 2 things broke in a patch, and never was fixed. (the enhanced edition might of fixed these I don't remember)
the 3rd, chances are your pirate population is too high and they are killing off all the traders.
but keep in mind traders considers price AND distance when considering a good deal. You might of set up shop to far away from your buyer hangar's.

OUCH is right about the first two things. If you are running an UIM patch, and I suggest you do, the old hangar name editors won't work. I don't remember any time when your hangar's "buy" list was made known to the traders via the trading posts.
The third problem has a variety of solutions. One is location, just like in the real world. If you are trying to sell Sheet Metal in the Downtown Crater, you are competing with two Ore Processors that might be more convenient to the trader. They don't just look at lowest price.
Ore Processor 2 in the Downtown Complex (with Downtown Moths, etc.) sells a ton of Sheet Metal because they are right on top of so many manufacturers that use Sheet Metal. Its hard to beat that, but the principle is to get close.
Remember that you can still sell the stuff yourself. Just keep checking to what prices are going up and start production and sell it yourself.
Sell stuff that no one else is making. You can sell the hell out of weapons in Riverside. You are competing with Klamp-G and standard pricing. You can beat that and get an unlimited flow of pirates coming to load up. Kill them and the newly spawned pirates will need to load up, too.

Thanks for the help, really appreciated. I may look to try one of the enhanced patches at a later time then but just getting my head around the manufacturing is enough for now. Selling missiles to the pirates sounds like fun One other thing - is there any way of predetermining what a factory will build? eg I really want a distillery but how do I get central industrial to build distllery machinery rather than some other kind of machinery? Thanks again Steve

I guess after a while CI will produce a distiller, what was difficult to make was the narcotron, I have been searching for a recipe list on zedo but can't find out. I can't remember what was used exactly to produce machinery but guessing I would try with machparts exmetal sheetmetal and perhaps compcomp... somebody needs to confirm I have a question myself, the old console command Produceinfo still works in uim 6?

One thing that works is to supply CI with all the resources it needs, dont supply to much of one item otherwise traders will buy that from CI and sell somewhere else.
Dont buy any machinery until it produced what you want. CI will only make a few of each machinery, max 3 or something like that, it will first produce the cheaper machinery. So you may need to wait until those are full before it builds the one you want.
Use the TI commands to check hangar stock for which item is needed. Check after each production cycle (every full hardwar hour or something like that)
