Hi Everyone, I'm a die hard Hardwar fan and have just installed it on a laptop running vista. Everything works great apart from when bringing up any of the screens such as messages/ navigation etc. Switching to the screens from cockpit view is causing a 10 second freeze, the same applies when entering hangars. have been playing around with the display settings without much joy.
Has anyone any experience of this problem ?

I've heard of this problem before and it began under Vista. The problem seems to be switching video modes. First off, make sure you are running a UIM patch. These clear up many video problems with WindowsXP on.
Running the game's HardwarW.exe in XP or Windows98 compatibility mode may well clear this up. Try experimenting with the video options available under Vista's compatibility modes.
Related to this is the crash when entering hangars. The screen goes black as the hangar menu should come up. Compatibility deals with this problem, too, without having sacrifice using a video card.
Last, but certainly not least, WindowsXP on sometimes refuses to render Hardwar's cursor. You can turn off the game's cursor and use the system one on the game's main launch screen:
Display tab > uncheck "use software pointer".
Post back to tell us how it goes.
