hi! i just installed hardwar on my pc again (after taking a break from playing it for years), but i ran into some problems. when i try to start playing it, suddenly the game ask for the CD1... i already put the CD1 iso in using daemon tools, but maybe it doesn't detect it. it still need a cd. do you know how to solve the problem? thank you for your support

you can just copy the movies into the hardwar directory.
But luckily hardwars cd checking was pretty lame... go into the file media.txt (hardwars main directory) and remove the stars (*) from all the file names. Basically, the stars just tell hardwar to require these movies to be played before proceeding.

On another note, I've gotten the initial intro movie to quit running by using a hex editor to remove all references to "hardstar.gdv" in HardwarW.exe .

Which version are you using if you are using version UIM6.0 you canb go to the Misc tab and select "Skip all videos" -OR- You can use HardwarEopt (See attached file.) to edit your registry to point where the videos are or you can edit it manually. Attachments:

yes i use UIM6. but i actually do want to see the movies. if not it will feel like something is missing when playing the single player, right? but thanks to OUCH, we can see movies and play the game without using the CD anymore just put all the videos (the video files in the CD is actually that .GDV files) in the hardwar directory (same directory as the hardman.exe). i've test it and it works YEY,NO MORE CDs!

the numbers in media.txt correspond to what cd the movie is on. so you can easily make a single cd out of hardwar now days. merging and burning the audio might be more difficult but achievable. if your not afraid of going into the windows registry, you can find hardwars settings here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Refinery->Hardman->Config You will find a setting named "Source Path" that is where hardwar thinks it's movies are found by default. Also in here are the "ResolutionX" and "ResolutionY" settings which allow you to let hardwar run at any resolution you want. I currently run it at 1920 X 1080 which is equivalent to Blu-Ray's 1080p resolutions. oh, and zedo, you can rename the video files mentioned in media.txt to prevent them from playing completely. So change: HARDSTAR.GDV,1 to HARDSTAR.GD,1 and the intro movie won't play again till you change it back. also the media.txt star, cd bypass, thing, has been passed around on your message boards for years zedo...

I'm glad this question was posted. I hadn't caught on to the asterisk use. I have changed the source drive in the registry a few times. I think the approach is whatever people are used to. I use hex editors a lot, so that was my approach.
