yes patching would overwrite the files. I UIM06 replaces the exe completely. (where most if not all in game text strings are found.)
So if you want to translate then bust out out a hex editor...
I've been playing with that, *sigh* I'm no where near as good as some others here with it, I managed to get a no-text error.
[glow=blue,2,300]I did manage to run the original French Version though.[/glow]Alright first off installing the original French version, from the ISOs.
1. Download it obliviously, Next you can do one of three things (or all three if your insane.) "Insanity is doing the same thing over expecting a different result." - ? [Not tired to look it up at the moment.]
(A) Burn it to a disk.
(B) Mount it with daemon tools or equivalent.
(C) Or... (Shhh don't tell anyone...) 7z can unzip .ISO files just like it was a .rar file type or one of the many other compressions.
2. Now that you have your Hardwar in an accessible state open it as a folder and Right-Click on Hardman.exe (.exe may not be shown.) go down the list to the bottom where it says,
Properties and click, now on the new window, go to the
Compatibility Tab and select
Run this program in compatibility for: you'll want to select
Windows 98 / Windows ME from the drop down list. Now click
Apply or
Okay and close the window.
3. Now double-click Hardman, and run the installer, pick where you want to install it, don't worry even a NTFS formated drive will be fine. And finish the Installation.
4. Ehhh... Your computer re-booted look I had nothing to do with I promise, they at least asked on most programs from that time... See Windows or your password screen is back up, quit choking me already.
5. Okay now try click the Hardman/Hardwar icon that was deposited into your Start Menu's Programs list (or All Programs if your a Vistarian or Sevenian.) Or navigate to your install directory, F1.2's default is = C:\Program Files\Hardwar.
6. An error you say? You don't say...
Well as you likely noticed from the picture it is in French, and admittedly it's refreshing to hear "Message Received" in French, and the Police Chief at GQ Police (GQ means Government Quarters?) sounds diabolic... ah... I got off track.
7. Okay the solution for this is simple, You may not know French or a second language, but you at least understand numbers I assume... did you notice 16? Well that is the solution to the problem, you now need to change your desktop from 32-bit or 24-bit, to 16-bit you wont miss 8 or 16-bit you where at, you might not even notice they are gone, till... you play a game that uses a wider spectrum of colours.
One of the game I mentioned in the other thread needed to be ran in 256 colors, It's a bit difficult to figure out when you don't read Traditional Chinese let alone "Simplified" Chinese.
