I messed around with that before, some fun things to try:
1. Make the other Engines useful by making Acceleration a factor, Engine 1 accelerates real fast, good for fighting, but has slower top speed, slow down the Acceleration of Engine 3 so it takes a bit to reach top speed. I think I made Engine 2 have the top speed as 3 and made 3 a bit faster.
2. Change the Large Pod to have the Capacity of the Largest Pod, and make the Largest Pod have 2 slots of 75 instead of 5 slots of 30. The "Ore Run Pod", I think I did something similar with Small and Smallest.
3. Change the amount of weapon slots a moth has to balance it out. NT has 3, Swallow has 2, can't remember the rest.
4. I also changed the recharge of the cells to make them useful too.

Never messed with it myself, but someone I think Prophet gave me a modded one that had engine 3 set to the same as when the afterburner was used. I know, not practical, BUT it was fun racing around Titan, especially when using afterburner and the afterburner fuel cells mod! I think that the AI still followed the original speed caps though. :/
Edit: After looking at the top screenshot, I wonder, did MASS actually take part in anything or was it just there for show?

Yes, mass does make a difference, for example a neo tiger with a full largest pod is far less manoeuvrable than a neo tiger with an empty smallest pod.

Glad to see it's still of use to someone. But you guys know you can export your modified settings and then import them into your own Hardwar Patcher database right?
I never understood why no one did that. Maybe my interface was too crap I don't know.
