Hey flyers,
Been some time since I've been here. Actually, I wasn't sure if it was the best place to ask such an off-topic question but considering it's Software Refinery related, someone here may be able to help me.
I recently bought an amazing copy of Slipstream 5000. For those unfamiliar with this game, it was the first game made by Software Refinery before they made Hardwar. When you play it, you can definitely see the similarities between Slipstream 5000 and Hardwar, where they re-used parts of the Slipstream engine in Hardwar (flight model, ships and camera views).
Anyway, the version I bought is the floppy disk version. It's the earlier variant they made before later re-releasing it on CD-ROM (with added voice-overs and speech content). The game installs perfectly and I've configured the sound, and controls. The only problem is, when I launch the game, it is asking for a code. On the screen, it displays: "Enter code" and it gives me some type of alpha numeric values, possibly co-ordinates. Immediately, I thought this to be an anti-piracy code that can be verfied in the user manual. However, there is nothing in there. No codebook came with the game. I asked the original seller and he said everything was included as the game wasn't used. The only paperwork included is the user manual and warranty card. Please see the attached photos.
I've had a look online and I can find no mention of having to enter a code to use the game, neither for the floppy nor CD-ROM version. Although, it's very hard to find any information on this game at all, as it wasn't hugely popular. I thought this might be only on the floppy version as the disks were much easier to copy back in the day (1995 - before most people had CD writers), so I thought they might have implemented such an anti-piracy feature into it.
Does anyone have their own copy of this game, even better if it's a floppy version, and if so, did you have to enter a code to start the game? Is a codebook required and was it included as part of the game contents?
Best wishes,
janskjaer
