"Max's later releases messed with the economy a little to much imho."
I'm kind of curious about this -- I mean, in what way did they mess with it? Also is it a matter of breaking the economy, or just deviating too far away from the original game?

The economy model in the enhanced patch included a heavily modified version which attempts to dynamically adjust the prices of every item in the game during play.
Unlike the some of the earlier stable releases, the developer version that Max had let loose upon us has a registry setting for toggling between the modified economy or the default one. I'm not sure exactly which version of enhanced that Smurph was referring to, but I'm inclined to think that his opinion is not at all uncommon. Although I think it is a neat idea to have a dynamic economy, I often find myself using the default economy instead.

Wait, sort of confused. Didn't Hardwar already have a dynamic economy that reflected different pricing based on supply and demand..?

Yes, AI hangars in Hardwar do adjust prices for stocked items. The default economy is dynamic to a small degree. A given hangar will lower its purchase price of an item as the stock of that item raises.
The enhanced patch takes that several steps further with setting the prices of manufactured items to reflect the cost of the matierals required to manufacture those items. And then the development version exposes the economy to any code tinkerers that want to build their own custom economy.dll for it.
I wasn't trying to imply that the default economy wasn't dynamic. I was just trying to be accurate with my description of enhanced.

The torrent doesnt work. Forgive me for saying this but Torrents all depend on if the seeding computers are a) online b) got good connections.
According to the above links neither are the case.
I appreciate all the hard work you done Smurph but have you considered a file hosting site, you dont need to download from other peoples computers and use third party software often riddled with spyware. Plus the download speeds are a lot better.
Torrents seem such an archaic method of file hosting im surprised its still used.

I got the files off the torrent just fine. I'll stick them up on the site for a direct download. I've also got the torrent and will put that up, too.
