Players can sell to other players as long as they are setup for it. However, getting the AI to sell to you almost rarely happens since the AI Traders in General don't do much. That's all I needed to hear, perhaps I might hire myself out as a supplier of resources to other players businesses on your new server.

That would be interesting. How do you like doing Ore runs?

It depends on who's in midway and haven and how well armed they are,I usually make ore runs worthwhile by trading in gems at the same time.

Well, yeah. It's silly to go get Ore without also getting Gems, especially since you need CompComp to make a lot of things.

My answer to ore runs is downtown recycling,I am a regular customer and own the hangar upstairs from it making a tidy sum of credits for making machparts from their sheetmetal.

Or for around 50k you can make your own Sheet metal and Machparts

Unfortunately a lot of AI seems to be hopelessly stuck. Any idea if it's just temporary?

I was planning on killing all the ones stuck to see if their replacements do the same thing. I need to make some Devs to kill some Klamps/Lazs

Tried to connect today from the UK,tested directx versions 6,8 and 9 and even tried installing directplay separately but there still wasn't enough latency on my 75Mb/s connection for the game to show up.Disappointing but not surprising because I never had trouble connecting with my dial up setup.

I don't think latency means what you think it means....
You need to make sure the Ports are forwarded in your router and to either configure the Windows Firewall or turn it off. If you have done this, also try to use the direct IP instead of the domain. You never had issues with dial up since that never required playing around with Router settings.

Yeah it isn't because of latency, it is because of ports not being opened on your end, you can thank paranoid ISPs, well it isn't really their fault though, but some are harder to get through then others, also you may have to add an exception in Window's firewall or a third party firewall if your using one, I recommend TINYWALL I usually run it with allow outbound and a program called PeerBlock. The ports and how to configure them are in the sticky, How To Open Port's In A BroadBrand Connection?Tried to connect today from the UK,tested directx versions 6,8 and 9 and even tried installing directplay separately but there still wasn't enough latency on my 75Mb/s connection for the game to show up. Disappointing but not surprising because I never had trouble connecting with my dial up setup. Latency is a measure of time and distance it takes for a program to connect and communicate of a network or inter-network both public and private (home or business you work at).

Hi all. Loooooooooooooooooong time player, maybe some will even remember me. Recently bought a pc again after many years of being a mac and installing all my old games. Of course the one I couldn't wait to play again was this! Trying to log onto the server. I've downloaded directx and have tried forwarding my ports but not sure I've done it correctly: Any ideas?

Umm, why are the ports on different IP addresses is my first question? Find out what your PC's local address is, it would be best to make it static if you have other devices that use the network odds are a phone that connects to wifi, probably. . . moving on. . . There are two (possibly more) ways to assign a static IP for the PC one method is doing it from the PC and the other is doing it from the router by assigning your computer's MAC address to a static IP, it appears your router is using 192.168.0.* as the subnet range, since every router is different search google duckduckgo for direction for that router and the steps. Alternatively you could assign the static IP from you computer something in the .200s would be good as odds are against your router ever assigning those for any devices unless you have a more than 200 ppl over, or you internet is being used by everyone and their dog. PC settings -> IP Address: 192.168.0.222 (222 or something your router will probably never assign between 1 and 254 but not including them) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 Primary DNS: 192.168.0.254 Secondary DNS: 192.168.0.1 An out of date directions for setting it up on Windows, techviral.com/change-your-ip-address/ you're probably running Windows 10 so you'll need to find a more recent guide. With either method you'll need to change the IP Addresses in the screenshot to match the PC's static IP that you assign.Secondly it may or may not be required to create an exception in Window's built in firewall for those ports as well. BTW, any scripters want to make a script for that?

So I take it this game is still running? How often are there actually other human players in the game? I've never had the opportunity to play hardwar with real people.

Ok, so I set my computer up with a static IP on my lan, set my router to forward the ports, set my kaspersky to trust the hardwar application and allow network/internet access to it. I can see the game when I type the IP to connect to a network game and launch hardwar. It shows the intro logos and then the load screen, it says initializing network client or something along those lines and then crashes as soon as the bar is full. Any idea what the problem is? It seems to be on my end but I don't know what it is.
I kept playing with it to the point of turning my kaspersky and windows firewalls both completely off. I know my router is set-up good so that shouldn't be an issue. Still crashes. I give up for now. If anyone has any idea what's causing this please let me know.
