Since it has been a while since I played and I admittedly have forgotten quite a bit.
Which goods would you say move the Hardwar economy? At least lets shoot for at least the top 10, excluding finished goods, narcs, weapons, things that are final products.

I honestly can't say I know much about the economy. I rarely trade past getting a fusion cell made and don't really manufacture anything either. It's something I should learn a lot more about. I always live the run and gun life of a pirate. Plus the economy seems to somehow get borked anyway. Although I can see the attraction in doing your bit to try to keep things running smoothly.
But yeah, most of my money comes from bounties, repairs and selling other people's stuff!

What I would like to see is resources and finished goods get sold to customers like narcotics, huskar cigars and alcohol to one of the trading posts, preferably alpha (where the great trading halls are) and all the other trading posts in the city serving the purpose of buying and stockpiling goods that have either been salvaged or pirated, for example the log file would say "alpha trading has just sold 3 compcomp to customers". This would ensure that a constant demand for every type of goods was in the economy as well as a endless supply of money.

So why do the trade centers not have any customers?

The Trade Centers were probably put in place so the AI have a generic place to sell anything.

Well the Scavengers use them to sell whatever they pick up. I'm not sure if other A.I. use it in order to find who wants what and the prices paid? Trade centers pay the lowest usually and they don't always sell things cheapest. It would be good if the A.I. had also factored in a
( (item.Amount * item.Danger) + item.Buy ) / ( time.Distance + travel.Danger + item.Sell )
into things before deciding whether or not to get an item, example ore from Mines to Downtown passing through Haven is a high risk zone something like that would have encouraged traders to clear out trade centers.
Another example would be how if you have 1 Scrap Metal pirates ignore you, but if you have ~10 to ~20 they consider it worth while. Also pirates always take the bounty back to their hideout, but what happens then?

I think I have seen the pirates running goods to the trading posts before. They do tend to run back to their hideout with goods also though. I think what happens is they run back to their hideout to re-arm/repair and then take the goods to the trade center. Or maybe they just go to which ever is closer to unload? Maybe the game has some sort of back-end way for the pirates to sell their goods direct from their hideouts? This probably wouldn't be to hard to investigate with admin privileges if one was so inclined.

I think goods sit inside the hangars if unloaded there it isn't hard to actually check.
God Hanger: On teleport to a hangar owned by a pirate, (larger bounty recommended.)
the open the TI and type: GOODS then it will display any and all goods inside of the hangar. No admin needed.
