Okay, so I'm going through the exotic moths procurement process. It's actually quite a bit harder to make money than I used to think! Maybe nobody's carting fancy cargo through downtown anymore.
Anyway, I'm a cheap bastard, and fly home my (first in the series) new Death's Head. Strip the laser. Jump back in my S-Y, grab a Cell1 (to refit the Death's Head and steal its' Cell3) Smallest Pod and Salvage Drone (planning ahead for attack craft)
Lo and behold I get the "Can't fit" message when I try to throw the Cell1 in the Death's Head!! What is dis!? Anyone have any insight?
Also is it even a good idea to otherwise modify the moths before trading them in for the process of getting Swallows and L2000? Or will the lack of Cell3 throw off their manufacturing...stuff.

I can't fit my hangar's Cell1 to ANY of my moths, actually. Not even the Silver-Y with a Cell4 currently in it.
Curiouser and curiouser. Not sure if it's related, but I tried the 'hiding inventory' trick by loading eighty ore into a Smallest Pod and it basically broke my Silver-Y from ever getting a pod put on. "You are carrying too much cargo"
Putting the Smallest on another moth did not reveal the cargo. Is my game wonky or something?

Something really odd for sure is going on in your game, try to load up that cursed cell in your pod and jettison it over reservoir lake to lift the curse, or sell the hangar with everything inside, moths, cells, pods...

I shutdown without saving. I lost a ton of ore that can't stand and crippled my zippy little S-Y There really ought to be a start with a S-Y that has an Engine3. Called like "Tinkerer" or "Garage Enthusiast" or something, where you've got the Engine 3 and no pod/cannon/missiles, but a Cell 4 (YES I FIX MY DAMN CELLS, the 2 being the best is obnoxious). Or an Engine 3 and a Largest Pod mounted to a S-Y. I'd really like to see what that does to it.

I have had mixed results in storing cargo in pods I've removed from a Moth. I've had cargo simply disappear. I can't explain it.
I've never heard of the problem fitting a Cell #1. That is odd. The only time I've not been able to fit a cell is when the same cell is already fitted to the Moth.

It's still doing it. Doesn't matter since it's only fresh fits of Cell 1 to my moths in a single player game (who cares), but... bizarre.
I'll keep you posted when I start a new world.

I was about to ask if you had done any experimenting by starting a new world, re-installing the game, or trying alternate patches. It sounds like something is very glitchy. You got me nervous enough to download the files over the weekend and check them for viruses and corruption. They checked out okay. This doesn't, however, mean that your download went without a problem. You may have a corrupted file, though generally this would prevent installation and play.
