While I was trying to dig up his email address I found a massive hacking and modifications resource and community site called mod database www.moddb.comThat looks like Duncan's extracted Downtown crater. . . which he made for a 'look this is possible' it was accessible through a hole in the Alpha-Downtown tunnel. The download if it still exists would be in my sig's archive link.

Doubt nobody noticed that post... the timeline in my memory is really filled with big holes... but that post probably coincided with bissi's project and all the events that keep the board busy at the time... probably Ahhh! memories! I flew inside that empty crater at the time

I wasn't implying the op has any to do with bizzi or his crew or whatever project was about in that time, just that people around here in that time was a bit discouraged or disappointed ...or call it "unhearted" (invented this one?) about promises not carrying on, so nobody said anything about another empty promise. I do remember this thread, and that was my attitude at the time

Hi . I understand that people are looking for me. Thank Lee for that though i'm a bit late. Sorry if I er, let anyone down. I don't remember if I made DirectX 10 work but if I did I probably used an existing modified render-er from a similar game. I'll look into it. I don't modify the files myself, I use existing work, i'm no programmer. It's an understanding of libraries when they are compatible. I modified games much like people do GTA 5 today.
I did the same with Battle Zone II Combat Commander and the others. Created slightly IMO better complete versions based on mods they had at the time. I don't have access to my original files any longer but i'm sure I could find them on the net and try to put together another version, My wife would love it. She loves Hardwar as much as I. We have been video gaming since the 80's. She's been after me for years to make her another version with a simple installer. LOL
Thanks. and Btw, The Earth may be Flat and not spinning. Look into it. <-- Thats just a signature file, not here to discuss that in detail. Peace.

Hey.. We'd love a remake or Hardwar II but it seems no one is doing it even though some people started years ago. Any progress on this front? I look at flight sim games from places like igg-games.com and i see tons of good engines that could be used for such a game, especially Unreal 3 or 4 and Unity - has anyone tried those? Thanks. Dirtier than an Ewok spying on Princess Leia while bathing (you know you would too!) Dark Phoenix Rising oh.. Looking over my thread here I see my intentions for this thread was to discover any new textures I could add to my modification (I know the engine is limited). It was also to announce my modification with those new textures. I don't remember if I found any. Perhaps I didn't release what I had because I wasn't able to make Hardwar different enough to be appealing over what you could do yourselves. I don't honestly remember. I'll try to put together what I can if for no other reason that my wife wants it LOL but if and when I do i'll share it even though it may be just what you can do wrapped up in an installer. I won't know till I look around and see whats out there. I know I had a copy on megaupload.com at one point but I don't remember what was in it. My intention then for modding the game was to help keep it alive. It's sure good to know you guys are still around.

Hi Darkpheonix. What we want is updated directplay functionality restored as the new versions of Windows make it difficult if not impossible to host or join online games.Welcome back BTW.

It's not difficult at all to install DirectPlay, and works fine on Windows 10

I wrote enough code to load models + render craters. It's not perfect (Normals are just thrown out right now, certain attributes get lost or are ignored, rotations are wrong in some cases), but it's enough to zip around and explore the craters in a somewhat accurate form. Everything is loaded from unmodified .RES files, so in theory you can just drop a compiled binary into the hardwar folder and it Just Works(tm) I lost all motivation after I got this far, so it's been collecting dust on my HDD for a while. If anyone's interested in picking up the torch, grab me on discord ( Spitko#4127 ) and I can toss you the source+bring you up to speed with getting it running. It's written in Haxe, but you should have no trouble picking up the language if you've written any other high level C-like before. Closest language syntactically would be Typescript. However, please don't contact me if you're just interested in checking it out. There's nothing consumer ready here, it's a tech demo AT BEST, and not worth any non-developer's time.
